Clear sound, a bit cool

The sound of the Jabra Elite Active 65t is very clear and natural. Music seems appropriately open, detailed and lively. The heights are well metered, do not bite, do not bore. The bass provides a solid foundation – but should be a little more powerful for our taste. In addition, a perfect fit is essential here, otherwise the low frequencies will drop significantly. The middle and voice representation is also nice. Overall, the sound is good to very good, we are a bit disturbed by the slight coolness and detachment in the sound image, but others may prefer it – that’s ultimately a matter of taste. Deep bass fans will not get their money’s worth here.

By the way, Jabra offers a free app called Sound + for downloading, which can be used to gently adjust the sound to your own taste in a 5-band equalizer. The equalizer does not radically change the sound image, which we like, but rather helps with fine-tuning.

Comfortable handling, strong noise isolation

Jabra also does a lot right when it comes to handling. We think it’s good that the earplugs are stowed in a very small case that fits easily into your pocket. Unfortunately, Jabra does not use a magnetic bracket. The earphones can be stowed quite easily in the transport bowl, but magnets would have increased the comfort even further. That being said, the Jabra Elite Active 65t is very clever. They turn on when you take them out, but go out again in the case. In addition, the plugs pause the music when you take a single one out of your ear – this allows users to have a good time, for example.

Finally, there is also an optional ambient noise mode. In the case of the Jabra Elite Active 65t, this is also really useful, since the True Wireless in-ear headphones passively isolate outside noise very well – hardly any active noise cancellation is necessary here. Since they effectively close the ear canal, they create a slight pressure in the ear, which you can feel when you move your jaw. We didn’t find this really disturbing. Overall, the equipment and comfort are excellent.

In addition to the missing magnetic holder, there are deductions in the test for the somewhat frivolous control via the small buttons on the plugs. Although the most important control functions are available here, we prefer touch control for in-ear headphones. With Jabra, the buttons are on the outside of the plug, which means that when you press them, you either press them into your ear, which we find uncomfortable. Or you have to stabilize the plugs with a second finger. For the functions volume up / volume down / forward / back, Jabra offers two tiny buttons in one plug. They fulfill their functions, but it’s not really comfortable.

Jabra Elite Active 65t have a great battery life

The Jabra Elite Active 65t lasted for exactly 5 hours with one charge in our runtime test, which is a very good value. Accordingly, you shouldn’t get any problems in everyday life. The Elite Active 65t, like all the true wireless in-ear headphones we tested, are automatically charged in a transport case and, including recharging, achieve a total battery life of a decent 13 hours. Then the case must also be connected to the network, then it takes almost 3.5 hours to fully charge everything again.
