Design
Unlike the predecessor, the corners of the JBL Go 2 are rounded. The case pleases with its chic design and looks high quality. There is no change in the arrangement of the buttons: On the top, there are, for example, the on / off button and the volume buttons.
The charging socket (micro USB) and a stereo input are on the right side. The most important innovation: The Go 2 is waterproof (protection level IPX7). The wireless speaker continues to play, even if it ends up in the pool. However, the small box should not spend more than half an hour in 1-meter deep water.
Setup and operation
Pairing with the smartphone is easy and after a few minutes, you can play your favorite tracks on the box. Almost all buttons on the Go 2 are self-explanatory, only the play button has multiple functions. With a taper, you start or pause the playback. If you press the play button twice in quick succession, playback jumps to the next track. However, there is no key combination for returning to the previous song.
Battery life and sound
Small Bluetooth speakers usually have two major problems: insufficient battery life and poor sound. Due to the compact design, there is usually only space for a small battery and a small tweeter. The sound of the Go 2 is perfectly okay for its size.
Nevertheless, the basses and voices are missing a bit nasally. With a full battery, however, the small box manages around eight hours and 23 minutes. This is almost twice as long as its predecessor and is enough for a day on the beach.
