The Soundcore Rave Mini is already moving somewhat out of the field of mobile speakers. This is, even more, the case with the JBL Partybox 100. This is also the reason why the device is no longer listed on the manufacturer’s side e.g. the JBL Go 2 and Flip 5 but has opened a separate category for the party box series. The English name already suggests what the party speakers are intended for. So that they don’t go limp here, the size and weight are inevitable.
With its dimensions of 356 x 352 x 664mm and a weight of 11.3kg, the Partybox 100 is actually the smallest model in the series. The models 200, 300, and 1000 not only build even larger in part, but the weight of the series also ends at a proud 34.7kg. The reason for the proud mass is quickly found. However, the Party box 100 is equipped with at least two 5.25 “woofers and two 2.25” tweeters, which should already provide a music output of 160W. The Party box 1000 even speaks of 1100W. In order for the consortium to be fired up without a socket, it needs an appropriately large battery. This measures 2500mAh in the present model and should ensure 12h runtime.

You can change the volume, pause music, set the bass boost to three levels (off, 1, and 2), influence the light mode, and initiate the Bluetooth connection. Practical test and sound check
As noted at the beginning, the device can no longer really be called a mobile sound solution, which can be seen from the following size comparison with the Soundcore Rave Mini and Urbanears Rålisshould recognize quite quickly. The JBL offers two handles, which you should use as far as possible, but it is not packed and carried. What is also a bit of a shame is that there is no dust and water protection class certification. The integrated battery makes it ideal for outdoor events.
Speaking of the battery. It was difficult to verify its term. Because a species-appropriate volume was just too loud to let it drift along the way. I could not reach the 12h. The manufacturer was only able to achieve this with deactivated light and at level seven. In the corresponding scenario with party volume and light, one should clearly count on less or, if necessary, know the location of the nearest socket. The box lingers on this for ~ 6.5 hours until all the status LEDs of the battery light up again. Battery life and charging time are fine for me.
As with the Rave Mini, the lighting can again be seen as a bonus. It is not absolutely necessary, but it can also be deactivated. But I also couldn’t really understand what the audiovisual effect was aimed at. Somehow it looks a bit offbeat. But what bothered me a bit during the operation is that the loudspeaker switches off after 20 minutes, and no changes are made during this time. Of course, this can happen, for example, by simply playing a playlist from a USB stick.
Conclusion
Rarely is a product name as accurate as with the JBL Partybox 100? The fact that the loudspeaker was placed in the portable device category is simply due to the fact that a battery is installed. This is even so large that the playing time reaches a double-digit number of hours. But that was almost it with the mobile properties. Because just like that the ~ 11kg is not balanced. The two handles are useful or necessary, but they don’t make the box a real companion. But it doesn’t have to. Because, as the product name suggests, it should be used for parties. And it can.
The types of playback are already good with Bluetooth, USB, and analog and are complemented by the microphone and guitar input in a party manner. It is difficult to estimate whether this is often used by the buyers of the box. However, it can be said that at least the microphone input works. An electric guitar was not available at the time of the test. One can criticize the case. This is quite coarse and has slight burrs in places. In addition, you do not miss any certification with regard to the IP protection classes.
