Best RHA TrueConnect Black Friday And Cyber Monday

The tastefully designed, completely black in-ears are larger and chunkier than the Apple version; but for my terms, they are also more valuable. They are delivered with a considerable selection of silicone and composite foam earplugs; so that a good fit is ensured in this regard. In addition, there is a noble matt black aluminum case; in which the listeners can find a safe place and at the same time are charged via the integrated battery. According to the manufacturer, the runtime is five hours, and the carrying case can recharge this performance four times in fast mode. 15 minutes are enough for almost 2.5 hours of playing time. In the practical test, however, five hours of playing time were not quite reached; but only 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Practice

Personally, I first had to get used to using the True Wireless headphones; because a relatively large part of the construction is outside of the ear. Nevertheless, the fit of the light headphones is still good and with the right earplugs also safe enough for sports use. At the same time, the construction scores with resistance to sweat and splash water according to IPX5.

The operation via the buttons on the sides of both earphones is straightforward, but unfortunately not particularly comfortable for me, since there are no tactile pressure points due to the design, but I don’t want to blame TrueConnect for that.

You can start and stop the music, jump between tracks, take phone calls, call up a voice assistant, regulate the volume with double and triple clicks, initiate Bluetooth pairing and switch the device on and off. The latter function, in particular, always led to confusion, at least for me, because there is simply no clear status information. I also occasionally trigger unwanted touch events when adjusting the listeners. The sound transmission itself worked stably in a radius of just under ten meters so that you can definitely put the smartphone down.

Sound

Once again I find that I really like the tonal tuning of RHA. The dynamic 6 mm drivers deliver a warm, full sound – not neutral, but pleasantly coherent and powerful. The additional pressure makes perfect sense in mobile mode; since fine details and dynamics are lost despite the good passive isolation from outside noise. The listeners provide a good but not enormous maximum level, which fortunately does not interfere with the outside. As expected, the best sound performance can be achieved in quiet listening environments; although the mandatory slight background noise of the Bluetooth radio link can hear.

The bass range provides a rich, slightly overemphasized foundation, which is contoured with reproduced together with remarkable deep bass and dynamics. The central middle area is somewhat outshone by the powerful bass but still generates a nice basic warmth with acoustic and electrical sounds. Solo instruments and voices are also clearly worked out. The heights are never uncomfortable, but rather round. The TrueConnect achieves a still good detail resolution, although a little additional shine would have been nice. Finally, I was impressed by the pronounced stereo panorama and panning. So it is actually a lot of fun to listen to corresponding productions.

Due to its consistently harmonious sound results; I would recommend TrueConnect as suitable for all genres; even if one would place more emphasis on neutrality in jazz and classical music.

A minor flaw is the exclusive support of the SBC codec. In our opinion, this standard solution is no longer up to date in times of hi-res audio, and solutions such as aptX HD or LDAC are inferior. Finally, I can confirm that the RHA model has a very good speech intelligibility when making calls.
