Best Shure SE 535 Wireless Black Friday Review
Design,
The Shure SE 535 Wireless, available exclusively in bronze housings, comes with a carrying bag, jack converter, eight pairs of earmolds (foam, silicone, fir tree), a volume control adapter, a USB charging cable, and two additional features. They have a wired universal remote control with a microphone. Like the normal version, it features space-saving MMCX connections and substitutes the pure audio cable.
The wireless variant has a Bluetooth receiver-integrated cord. This uses the SBC (subband codec) instead of the better-sounding aptX codec. Lapel clips are additional. To prevent corrosion, Shure gold-plates all connection contact surfaces. Manual volume control on a tiny extension cord is supplied for non-Android or iOS smartphone and tablet users.
Design-wise, nothing stands out. The in-ears remain sturdy. They’re still great onstage with their hubby or headphones. Our primary Shure SE 535 test is recommended for details and comfort.
Features and operation
The SE 535 Wireless’s Bluetooth capabilities need the usage of the included receiver device. It uses a cable to transmit the signal to the in-ear monitors. As a result, the receiving unit is situated in the center of the wire connecting the two-button headphones. This cable also has a remote control for use with smart devices. Their operation features are almost equivalent to those of the traditional wired remote. The option to switch between “i” and “A” modes is the only thing missing. It’s quite simple to link up with them. When you turn it on, it tells you how long you can use it based on how much battery life is left. The Bluetooth receiver has a micro USB port for powering it up.
Both cables’ MMCX plugs are securely fastened to their respective earbuds. Once plugged in, they won’t come unplugged without a lot of effort. The new audio cable comes with a built-in remote that can be toggled between “i” and “A” modes through a button on the bottom. In “i” mode, the remote controls iOS devices, while in “A” mode, it controls Android devices. The top of the remote control has just three buttons. “+” and “-” may be used to increase or decrease the loudness. The mechanism for the center button is more involved. To play or stop a song, press once; to skip to the next track, press twice. To go back on track, press the button three times. There is also a built-in repeat feature. The user is instructed to “click three times after 6 seconds” in the handbook. But what happened after six seconds? The onus of proof rests squarely on the user.
Sound
The Shure SE535 needs equalization or bass boosting for my liking on the playback device/amplifier. With this support, the headphones provide clearly shaped basses that are not huge. First, stronger bass levels between 75 and 100 Hz are perceptible. Button headphones are reserved in the deep bass. EQ assistance makes Urban Music’s sub-basses audible.
The SE535’s midsection is robust and balanced. The SE535 tested here has aggressive mids like the Asian Special Edition (a test will follow). This time, the heights are silkier but still bright. Never cut heights or hiss. My ears hear a more balanced, pleasant sound than with the Wireless Special Edition.
Even though the SE535 Wireless only goes up to 19 kHz, they sound like they have enough “air” at the maximum heights. Listening is unaffected by the loss of 1,000 Hz compared to rivals. Headphones provide good subjective signal resolution. They provide classical recordings with a properly staggered depth perception, a robust stereo picture, and a vibrant signal dynamics experience. In this SE535 Wireless variant, wire and Bluetooth functioning sound similar.
